Pedal Revolution new bikes update for May – Civia Cycles

New bike models have been trickling in at Pedal Revolution. Here is an update on some exciting new ones we have in stock:

Civia Bikes is company that is under the ownership of  Quality Bicycle Products distribution which is the largest US bike parts vendor. They own Salsa and Surly-two brands that we sell and Civia is their newest line focusing on high end commuter bike options. We just received our first batch of Civia bikes and have built a few up for test rides. Currently Pedal Revolution is stocking their Kingfield commuter road bike and the Halsted their cargo truck bike.  The quality of both of these bikes is very high and a lot of attention to detail went into the designs.

Civia Kingfield Belt driven internal hub road bike

The Civia Kingfield is a capable road bike with a commuter lean. The drive-train on this bike is a belt driven internal hub. That means no external gears or derailleurs attached to the bike to get bumped, damaged or exposed to the elements and no chain! The belt that replaces the chain is a kevlar composite that is very durable, quiet and requires no lube.  A great option for rainy day commutes, the Kingfield is a sturdy steel framed bike outfitted with full color matched fenders and a sturdy rear rack.

Belt driven internal rear hub w/chainguard.

Single bar end shifter for gear changes.

As with any new bike we are excited to see how it builds up and rides. First impressions of this bike are very good. It has quick handling  and a solid feel to it. Shifting is spot on with the internal hub/down-tube shifter set up. We are excited about this new addition to our line. $1295 complete.

Civia Halsted Cargo bike

I’ve been anticipating the arrival of this bike since I saw the plan for it last year. The Civia Halsted Cargo bike is a quick handling, relatively lightweight cargo bike that is small enough for recreational riding and everyday use. The Halsted doesn’t take up much more space than a standard bicycle unlike many other cargo bike options but will handle substantial loads due to is lower front end geometry, 20″ front wheel, and wide cargo platform that is attached to the frame and doesn’t effect steering.  Recommended weight for the cargo platform is 50lbs but Civia claims that the rack reinforcements are strong enough to hold much more weight although steering could be compromised. We rode the bike around the block with one of our mechanics seated on the front and while handling became a little squirmy the rack handled the weight just fine. Here is a link to a video discussing the Halsted:

Front loader with strap cut-outs.

There is an optional sign that fits inside the frame triangle to advertise a business or promote whatever message you feel like. Great option for business short distance delivery. $995 complete. Check em’ out!
