Specialized Rock Hopper 24″ @Pedal Revolution Refurbished Bike Update
The blue beauty above has been restored for the less vertiginous cyclist. In all likelihood, back in the day, this 24″ wheeled bicycle was marketed as a “youth” bike. Being much more broad-minded here in San Francisco circa harvest moon 2014, we just consider it a sweet utility ride for ANYONE around 5′ tall.
Per usual, as with most Pedal Revolution refurbished bikes, all of the essential wear and tear items have been replaced; tires/tubes, chain, cables and housing. Additionally, an upright bar/stem was added for comfort. As if that were not enough, tan cork grips (a staff favorite) create just the right aesthetic synergy with the tires while the orange cable housing harmonizes with the logo.
Typical of all terrain bikes from the period, this bike has plenty of clearance for fenders and specific mounts for front and rear racks but really the stand-out feature of this bike is it’s proportion. Not only do the smaller wheels properly scale with the frame visually, they create a bike that handles much better than a typical contemporary commuter bike with large (aka 700c size) wheels pegged on a very small frame.
